Welcome to Hershey Middle School

Originally built in 1966 as a high school, Hershey Middle School was renovated into the middle school in 1998. Today the 157,000-square foot facility houses nearly 900 students in grades 6-8. The building boasts a full size gym, a 1,000+ seat auditorium, a card access system, and internet/television/ phone access in all classrooms.

Our middle school program emphasizes holistic learning through interdisciplinary teams, blending both subject knowledge and personal growth. This cohesive approach ensures a consistent and smooth transition for students, paving the way from their elementary experiences to the challenges of high school.

Extracurriculars and Athletics

Students have multiple opportunities to engage in rigorous learning across subject areas as well as participate in extra-curricular activities. By the time they enter high school, every student has the opportunity to be connected to at least one school activity be it athletics, clubs or music ensembles.

This particular honor recognizes the outstanding contributions they have made at Hershey High School as well as in the community. 2023 Best Communities for Music Education

We are proud to announce that Derry Township School District has once again been named a Best Communities for Music Education from NAMM foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education!

Anna Gawel Named Pennsylvania’s 2023 Outstanding Assistant Principal

Anna L. Gawel, Assistant Principal of Hershey Elementary School (4th and 5th grades) in the Derry Township School District, has been named Pennsylvania’s 2023 Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year by the Pennsylvania Principals Association. As a state winner in the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) National Outstanding Assistant Principal (NOAP) of the Year Program, Mrs. Gawel is eligible for consideration to be named the NAESP National Outstanding Assistant Principal of the Year.

Derry Township residents are invited to join us for our first community engagement night to learn more about our Elementary School building project. The community event will include a presentation with the district administration and project architect, question period and a tour of our the Hershey Elementary School building. Community Resource Fair

You're invited to our Derry Township School District Community Resource Fair. This event is free. Please come join us for a meet and greet with community resources and summer camps from around the area who welcome students with disabilities. Ask questions, speak with an agency representative and even sign up. Drop in anytime between 4:00pm - 6:00pm on Thursday October 19th in our Middle School LGI!

Join Mini-THON for our Annual Fall Fest on October 13, from 5:30-7:30 at the High School! We will have crafts, pumpkin painting, a movie, trick-or-treating, and our iconic Haunted Hallway! Entry fee is $10 minimum donation per child.
